Scrap car prices are continuing to level after a fast, large increase at the beginning of the year. With an increase of just 1% from March, this could be an indication that the market is approaching a downturn. Scrap metal prices are an impressive 73% above what they were this time last year though, so it's not all bad news.

With the increase in prices slowing down dramatically, now is an ideal time to sell your car for scrap, taking advantage of the current high value.

Scrap Car Price Index April 2017 to April 2018

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
