April has seen a slight drop in the prices paid for scrap cars. The average price paid for a scrap car in Australia in April is 2% lower than what was paid in March. However, the value of scrap cars is still an impressive 23% higher than the scrap values seen in April 2018.

There's a possibility that the global demand for scrap metal might increase as we move into May, increasing scrap car value, but there are no guarantees.

Scrap Car Price Index April 2018 to April 2019

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
