It's time for our latest scrap car price update and we're happy to report that prices have recovered slightly this month after the drop in July, with a 6% increase in the amount of money scrap cars are worth over the past 31 days. Bringing us almost level with the month of June, and an impressive 71% improvement on the metal prices on offer for cars this time last year!

The price of scrap cars in Australia seem to be fairly stable at the moment, but with the demand from the global steel industry influencing the value of scrap cars, there is a possibility that prices could fall as we move into September. With prices being high right now, it's a good time to sell your car for scrap to get the maximum value from your vehicle.

Scrap Car Price Index August 2017 to August 2018

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
