Good news this month with scrap car values! With spring around the corner, the prices paid for scrap cars is rising, increasing an impressive 6% from July's prices. This also means that the value of scrap cars in August 2019 is 39% higher than August 2018, giving Australians the best value for their cars in over a year.

There is no guarantee that this upwards trend will continue, so that means that now is an ideal time to sell your car, whilst prices are so good.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
