July has seen a slight increase in scrap prices, but it has just recovered the reduction experienced in June.

The index shows we are 46% down on the same period last year, however most of that fall occurred in October/November 2015. Prices have been more stable this year and we haven't seen any significant falls recently.

We hope that prices stay stable but the market is still uncertain about future movements.

No guarantees can be made that we won't experience several more price reductions over the balance of this year.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage.
