This month we're reporting a slight drop in prices when you look at them month on month, however, the amount scrap cars are worth is 44% higher than the same time last year. On to the decline in prices, as we predicted last month, scrap car prices have taken a slight drop in July. Prices are 6% lower than they were in June.

There could be an increase in prices over the coming weeks, however as prices are influenced by the global demand for steel, there's no telling whether the prices could continue to slump throughout the remaining winter months. So if you're looking to sell your car for scrap, now is a good time to do it, to make sure you get the best value for your vehicle.

Scrap Car Price Index July 2017 to July 2018

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
