June saw a 14% increase in the index for the month, which reflected the increased competition for cars not necessarily the increase in the scrap prices.

Some of our major operators increased their prices to compete more aggressively to maintain their market share. This was good news for the customers, however it may be short lived. The index was also 26% higher than the same time last year.

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.

CarTakeBack offer the best prices on your scrap car by searching their network of scrap car recycling centres, so why don't you get an instant quote now to find out how much your car is worth.
