Scrap Car Price Update June 2021

June has seen a slight increase to the average price paid for scrap cars with CarTakeBack in Australia. Another increase means that each month in 2021 we've reported an improvement compared to the previous month!

In June scrap car prices climbed by 2% compared to those in May. That's $9 higher than those in May, making average prices just shy of $500 for your scrap cars. Plus prices are also up by a considerable 60% compared to June 2020.

About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It's updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. We've taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.

Top cars scrapped in June 2021

The top model scrapped - In April the Toyota Corolla took the number one spot from the Holden Astra, in May the Astra was back on top, and now in June, the top spot has been taken again by the Toyota Corolla as the most commonly scrapped car with CarTakeBack! The Corollas that were scrapped at our recycling centres in June were an average of 23 years old. The average scrap value of a Toyota Corolla was a decent $614, that's well above the average scrap car value for the month!

The top 5 makes of car scrapped - Holden again took the top spot of the most common scrapped make at CarTakeBack recycling centres. Mitsubishi moved up a place from bottom of the pack into fourth and Hyundai disappeared from the top list, Mazda has moved into take the last spot for June.
