After an increase in prices reported by us during the first two months of the year, this month we've seen the rise in metal prices on offer for scrap cars slow down, with a small 2% increase compared to last month.

It's not all bad news though, prices are a huge 67% higher than they were at this time last year.

Prices could sustain into next month, but due to the fluctuating scrap metal market in line with demand, there's no guarantee that prices will remain or increase. So, if you're considering selling your car for scrap, we recommend that you make the most of the current prices!

Scrap Car Price Index March 2017 to March 2018

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
