We're afraid to say that Halloween has brought some gloomy news. October has brought a slight decrease in the prices paid for scrap cars, which was expected due to the decrease in scrap metal value across the global market. But this doesn't mean the price you get for your car is bad, the drop in value was a very small 2% when compared to September, and prices paid are still very high, being an incredible 27% higher than what was being paid this time last year! See? It's not all scary this Halloween!

There may be another drop in November as the global scrap metal market is still in decline, so now is a great time to scrap your car to get the best value out of it!

Scrap Car Price Index October 2018 to October 2019

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
