We're pleased to say that it's good news again for this month's scrap car price update. Prices have continued to recover thanks to strong scrap metal prices, increasing 6% from last month. September also saw the highest scrap car prices so far this year, and a massive 56% increase compared to how much scrap cars were worth in September 2017!

The steel industry has been stable recently, and we hope that this continues into the summer months. But with the metal market fluctuating in line with demand, prices could drop as we get closer to Christmas. So if you need to sell your scrap car, now is a very good time to do it.

Scrap Car Price Index September 2017 to September 2018

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
