After scrap car values rising over winter, September has continued to bring good news… The prices paid for scrap cars this month have stayed stable, an impressive 32% higher than this time in 2018.

The price of scrap cars depends on many factors, including the global scrap metal market. As there are no guarantees that the market will continue to stay so strong, if you’ve got an old car sitting on your driveway that needs to be scrapped, now is the time to do it!

Scrap Car Price Index September 2018 to September 2019

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
