Can I get cash for my old car?
If you sell your car as scrap in New South Wales or Victoria you will be paid by cheque. This restriction on paying cash is due to the Scrap Metal Industry Bill 2016 in NSW, and the Second-Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Regulations 2018 in Victoria.
You may still be paid using cash throughout the rest of Australia.
