As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to impact our lives and businesses, this month we saw some stability to scrap car prices. Scrap car prices took a dramatic fall in April and May has seen those prices maintain, which is better than seeing further reductions to prices. May's prices were unchanged compared to the prices last month, and May's prices were 2% higher than those seen this time last year.
The CarTakeBack Customer Services Team continue to safely make arrangements for you to sell your scrap car. Scrap car collections are still happening, our collectors are following the guidance on social distancing and hygiene. Collections will only be carried out when it is safe to do so, for both our staff and for you.
Further details of our guidance in relation to Coronavirus can be found here >
It's still a good time to scrap your car. Especially as your scrap car price will be guaranteed for 7 days, meaning any further drops to prices during that time won’t affect you! Find out how much your scrap car is worth now >
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
